Riverfest Day Three

The family, at the foot of dad's deck, right before they headed out.
Vince's parents left yesterday afternoon, after coming back by the house to say last good byes. I sent them home with a bottle of Kansas made apple butter bbq sauce for grandpa Cliffy. But, I could kick myself as I've had my guest book out for them since a week before they came, and forgot to have them sign it the whole time! UHG! We did get a few last minute pics at least though. They are safe and sound at home now. Kathy said she can see why we want to live here now. She said there was so much to do while they were here with the kids. And that's the truth, we didn't even get to do half the stuff we had planned with them, and still did a lot!

I was bored last night a bit so we went to Lake Afton Observatory, it used to be free. But, now it's 4 dollars a person or 30 dollars a year for a family pass. I hadn't brought any cash with me since I thought it would still be free. plus it was very cloudy and I didn't want to pay for a cloudy night, even though you could still see a little bit with their very high powered huge telescope, but still. Lela was a bit disappointed that all we did was look through the telescope and the binoculars outside, and look at a few lit up diagrams outside to help you recognize constellations, cause they were free, and then went home. But, I assured her we will be back, and I know we will as I love that place, and it's not far from where we live.

Thankfully I was finally feeling a bit better this evening. Still a little sick but over all much better. I think the antibiotics worked! So we went to see Little Big Town concert at Riverfest. It was mighty hot when we first got there. It was 104 degrees! We took a LOT of drinks, and some chips and dip, macaroni salad, a boston cream pie that was marked half price at Dillon's and such. Mom brought chicken and more drinks. But, sadly we broke the wheel of the big stroller. I'm hoping the bike shop can fix it. It just didn't do well on the big curbs, being I think over packed with weight! lol haha At least we had plenty of drinks! And we didn't get over heated like we did on Friday. I also found the kids carnival only feet away from the place I asked about where it was, and it was supposed to be being sponsored by the place I asked! Grrr. I had looked and looked for it on Friday to no avail! Well we will know for later I guess.

I still want to go see Grascal, and Tony! Toni! Tone! though. I think we will, thankfully they are scheduled for later in the evening and it should be cooler by then.

Are those white high tops on Belle? I love those on babies and you rarely see that these days. The girls are precious. I'm glad the visit went well. It was nice that they could stay so long and do a lot with you. I hope you feel better soon.

yes they are the "classic" stride right baby shoes. She has some with flowers on them too. But, they are the classics you've seen for ever now, sometimes they add bells to the laces. lol haha (I did that with Lela's, need to get bells for Belle's too! lol)

We believe in quality shoes. I save money even though they are expensive for them, however, Kathy (Vince's mom) helps us a lot and bought those for her. But, we don't sacrifice quality when it comes to shoes. Quality shoes are so important to future health! I know my feet are aweful!

Any way, I can't believe the amount of people who just put what ever on their kids now a days. I feel sorry for all the babies I see wearing flip flops as every day shoes now. It's not good for their future foot/back health.

I always got Stride Rite for my kids, too, and I had the lace holders with bells on them so they didn't come untied.
I know what you mean- many of my friends bought cheap shoes, or shoved their little kids' feet into shoes that were too small to save money.

Yes, I see the same. I am not judging the parents, I just don't think they realize that is one thing if you can at all to go ahead and save money and spend extra on, and cut corners on other things if possible. Cause you have to have your feet and back for a long time to be mobile. And shoes make a huge difference in that. I also worry about kids being ran over by cars cause of flip flops. They don't stay on well and if they are running across the street or something, I can see one flying off, and being a kid, I can see a kid going after it with out paying attention to the on coming cars and being ran over. I know it sounds like a lot of thinking into the flip flops but it was something I always worried about especially in NYC, and especially when riding the trains, I worried a flip flop would fall on the tracks and a kid would be tempted to try to get it, and be hit by a train or electrocuted by the rail.

Good to know that The Kingdom of God is being shown and we are not hiding his love from those who most need it.

Indeed it is-Matt. 24:14 And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.
