Bursting out of the Closet. . .

I exhausted myself yesterday. I cleaned out the closet. Whew was that a dirty job. But, so glad it's finally done. Getting ready for meetings now will be a lot easier. When the income tax comes I'm pretty sure we are going to get the girls kids huggable hangers, my mom bought them some but they are adult size and hard to get little clothes on and off them. But, I think these will be great. And make the closet even more organized. I also want to get myself a bunch of shoe boxes. In the past I have used shoe racks that hang on the back of doors, but I think I like boxes better. And I want some new meeting shoes too. lol I think I have about a 4 year plan on getting the shoe wardrobe I want. haha Today I got more laundry done too. Almost, almost, almost have conquered mount washmore! woo whoo! Then we cleaned the kitchen, I did the upper parts, and Vince did the floors. Boy has the floor been needing a good steam mopping. So much better now.

I'm also hoping to get my hair cut before Memorial. Not too much longer. I'm really wanting to go extra short. Of course I've been wanting that for a while, now to just get a hair dresser that will listen and really do it!

Oh and I almost forgot. Sunday on the way into the house Lela picked me some dandelions. It was so cute! She can be a very sweet little girl really.

Today it was warm enough for the girls to play outside for a little while, they sure did enjoy that. It's been to wet and rainy for a little while. So it was nice for them to get outside again. They sure needed it, and so did mommy!

Sweet Salsa. . .

I finished my slip yesterday. I had to make a quick trip to Needle Nook for better matching lace. But, other then that it was easy peasy and it's done. I was able to wear it and the skirt to meeting this morning. Meeting was great as usual. And we also had a really fun visiting speaker. They've served in the Soviet Union. And they had some really nice experiences. Usually RJ sleeps through the meeting, wouldn't you know though today he stayed awake the whole time. haha. So up and down with him a lot. Then he fell asleep during the closing song! yeah. . .So I didn't get much out of the meeting in that regard. But, I really have been loving the Watchtower study we've been focusing on the last few weeks. Really fun. I like ones that open themselves up to drawing out the heart and hearing lots of personally experiences.

I am just so pleased with my skirt though. I picked some fabric for a tee shirt to go with it, I'm going to finish it but I don't think I'm in love with the lightness of the fabric. I think I'm going to go ahead and try to buy another one that doesn't have the exact color in it but it still goes. I bought some red knit to make a tee shirt for a red skirt too. So next week I will start on that skirt and shirt too. Today though I cut out a tee shirt in a striped knit that I really like. But, I've forgotten how to do the v part of it. So I'm going to do all the steps up to that point then go in on Saturday and ask Anne for help. Till then I'm going to work on a free hot patterns pattern I downloaded and printed and see how that goes. I'm just going to make a muslin, if it comes out good I want to try it with this chocolate jersey that has metallic gold polka dots and is beautiful. So I'm hoping it will work.

I need to buy new sandals, the ones I bought last year got mildewed from a flood we had down here in the basement. So sad. And I want a few more colors. And that will be nice with my new skirts.

Last night I made taco meat before bed, and put it in the crock pot liner. Then this morning pulled it out and put it in the heating base. And went off to meeting, so nice to come home to hot food. And every one was here when we got home! Every one! Merle, Delores, Ben, every one. So we quickly had to make more meat, sent Merle to the store for more taco shells. Which Delores said she really really liked. So told her where to get them. And Merle said others must like them cause they didn't have many left on the shelf and all the other brands were still stocked full. On the way home I forgot salsa at Target. Cause I love their peach one. So I stopped at our local store called Krauss, and bought some local salsa. It was so good. Gluten free, and had a little bit of sorghum in it. It was delicious. So much so the whole jar was eaten at lunch! lol Now I have to buy more. At least I don't have to go all the way to town to buy it! I can just go down the street and pick it up. I'm already craving some more. Krystal and Sarah sliced us up some yummy strawberries and we had strawberries and ice cream for dessert. So it was a really nice lunch. Then we had to sadly say goodbye to Amber while she went back to law school.

Wednesday Sewing. . .

Julie and I decided we would start sewing together on Wednesdays. So today was the first Wednesday, neither of us got much done, but we had a good time. We talked. She worked on a muslin, I worked on my skirt. I was able to finish my skirt, with Lela's help. She held down the reverse button when I needed while I sewed down the elastic, since I did it on the seams it was extra bulky and I needed both my hands to keep the fabric in place and feed it through, so Lela had to use both her hands but was able to keep the reverse button down for me when I needed her to and she had fun, and really really helped me too. Then I was able to cut out a slip, finally! I noticed the tricot wasn't as nice as what I bought last year though....so I am going to go ahead and make this one, but I think I will buy better tricot and make another one too. Next I want to cut out a tee shirt. Otherwise, I really really love the skirt, and for sure will make several more! I made one in yellow gauze last summer it was a little on the long side. This time I pinched out a inch in two of the panels (so took it up 2 inches) to see what that would do. And that made it absolutely the perfect length. So I'm really really happy with it! I am washing another piece of fabric right now to shrink it up and get it all ready and can't wait to cut it out and get started on another one of these skirts. Thankfully they sew up quick!

Julie brought tuna salad and cookies, and little Sarah. Sarah and Lela was due only days apart, but since I was induced early Lela is 2 weeks older. haha They had a lot of fun playing though, and playing and playing and playing! We decided since it was spring break she could come back on Friday again.

I was able to get a little more laundry done too. Woo whoo. I have a big box I'm working on. And it's almost done.

I've gained a lot of weight and really really want to work on it. I'm hoping to get it under control very soon. *sigh*

Stickem' Up. . .

Friday afternoon I got a phone call from my mom. She was wondering if I had been watching tv, and heard anything about a bank robbery. I had not. So she proceeded to tell me, that she had sent Eldon, and the kids out to eat breakfast at Don's while she stayed home. Then hours later they called her and said they couldn't get through to come home cause the police had their whole neighborhood shut down till they could find the bank robber that was on the lose in the neighborhood. After a while she got hungry and my mom being handicap was stuck with out being able to get herself any food or anything. So she called me to ask if I wanted to go out to eat once the police would let her free from her house! haha I said yes, and we made plans to go to Olive Garden cause she wanted soup. And well they just have delicious soup. A few hours later the police found the man in a house down the street from her on her same block. Thank goodness they had seen him from a helicopter go into a specific home. A teen boy had been home, heard all the commotion of the police chase came outside to look and while he was looking the thief snuck into his house with out him knowing, thankfully though the police seen it and stopped the boy from going back inside. Meanwhile they say the thief made a mess of the house, and took the adults clothes and shoes and redressed himself. Well, I'm glad they finally got him, and we were able to head on over to Olive Garden and have a wonderful dinner. So cheap to eat there, especially since Lela gets soup with the children't meal, and after she eats the soup she is full so brings home her children's meal for two more meals. That's cheaper then a happy meal, which she can eat two of! haha

Yesterday was busy busy. Started out slow, and had a nice bath, and yummy breakfast of pancakes and eggs. Then decided I wanted to go shopping. So ended up going to Grandma's Cupboard, looking for a Michael Miller Fabric, that they didn't have. However, they did have another cute fabric on sale, that I didn't end up coming home with cause of my search of the Michael Miller fabric. But, now thinking about it, I think I want the one at Grandma's, so I will try to get over there before the sale is over, wish I had wrote down the name of the designer and the name of the fabric so I could just buy it over the phone and pick it up later! I'm not as familiar with the gals over there as I am with Anne at Needle Nook. Which became my next stop. I bought elastic for 6 skirts-yes high hopes here! Fabric that I really liked and had made a turtle neck with from a ELD pattern, but decided I liked the fabric so much and it isn't very expensive, only 3.20 a yard with my 20 percent off gift certificates I use, and I'm going to make a v neck t-shirt using the pattern from the T-shirt class I took from Anne last year. I just love how that shirt fits. I need to get back over there when I have more time to mill around. But, Vince wanted to do other things, and I got there at closing so I will go back later and look for some fabrics for shirts I need.

Then we went over and got free french fries from Burger King which made the girls extra happy. haha Then Vince was hungry so we went to a Chinese buffet and ate lunch/dinner. haha After that I checked out Hobby Lobby for the Michael Miller fabric I am in search of, but they didn't have it either. However, they did have a very close one to what I was looking for, and if I don't find the one I am looking for I may go ahead and just go with it. I wanted to check Hancock's next but alas didn't make it in time and they were closed! I did however run into my mom while at Hobby Lobby and got to see and talk to her a few minutes. Then we headed on out to get some groceries but foiled again, didn't make it to the grocery store in time before they closed. Man I have to leave earlier, I was late to every thing! haha

So I came home and made spaghetti sauce, but I was short some tomato sauce, that I had planned on getting at the grocery store. So had to borrow from dad. Made the sauce all up, put it in the crock liner in the fridge and yeah lunch ready for today!

This morning again was a lovely talk, but boy was that opening Watchtower study song hard! The study was such a good one though. And then yes the closing song was one that is easy for me and wouldn't you know it Belle had to act up on that one so I didn't get to sing much of it. haha

Went to the store on the way home for the onion powder I needed and other stuff I hadn't been able to get yesterday and came home to yummy spaghetti all ready for us. So we invited Ben to come down and eat with us, and we had a nice family meal together.

After all that I was able to get started on a skirt, I have been planning since July last year! haha So happy, I finished cutting it out and almost have it finished! All I need to do is hem the bottom and add elastic to the top and done. It's a really pretty quilting cotton Florinda skirt. I love it. And can't wait to wear it next week. Next on my list is to get a slip done, and well many many more things need to get done too. I was also able to work on laundry today, woo whoo!

Sewing again. . .

Had so much fun today, went to the meeting, which was a wonderfully uplifting watchtower study. And the speaker was a brother I've known for over 30 years, haven't seen him in decades. I wanted to talk to him and his wife after the meeting but they left early. awe well. Maybe next time. It's so nice though that I have been able to see so many people since moving back that I grew up with. Almost every one in my congregation I grew up with at some point. Kind of neat.

Came home to a delicious roast that I had put in the crock pot before we left. Next time I'm going to put it in the night before on low, instead of in the morning on high. I am pretty sure I like the texture better on low, but it sure was tasty anyhow! Yummy sandwiches in our future for leftovers.

Julie came over, ate lunch with us, and then we sewed, gabbed and just had a good time. I got started on one of my winter skirts. I'm thinking when I get it done, it's time to start on my spring/summer clothes, winter went by so fast!
